The real gross domestic product per capita (Engl. per capita GDP in real terms) in 2006 stood at $ 30,305 (national average of the 50 U.S. states: USD 37,714; place national ranking: 42) [5].
The main products of agriculture, seafood (famous is the Maine lobster), poultry, eggs, potatoes, dairy products, livestock, blueberries and apples. Industrial products are paper, wood and furniture, electronics, food, leather and textiles. Maine is tourism area for the major cities of the American east coast. Kennebunkport is known by the summer White House in the 41st U.S. President George H.W. Bush.
Furthermore, there is the 49 sq km wide and over 1,600 man paying U.S. Navy base Naval Air Station Brunswick in Maine, which is the only military base in New England represents.
