The real gross domestic product per capita (Engl. per capita GDP in real terms) in 2006 amounted to U.S. $ 35,662 (national average of the 50 U.S. states: USD 37,714; place national ranking: 24) [4].
Iowa main products are pigs, corn, soybeans, potatoes, and dairy cows. Other products are goods to food, machinery, electronics, chemical products, also products of the printing industry and the metal industry. The unemployment rate in Iowa is 4.8% (2004). In the small village Froehlich in the north east of Iowa was the tractor invented. Today produces the tractor manufacturer John Deere a significant portion of its products in the works in Davenport and Waterloo.
